We’re good! We have praised the sh*t out of this “free for a while” product. I dread the monetization phase, you know the part where all the money poured here, will need to bring back some ROI.
In that ugly ROI phase, you could see the minimalism of the network, the sheer sharpness of the editor, the dynamic beauty of recommends and answers plagued by the same model that plagued everything else that started as free: advertising.
I fear highlighted words in articles, banners in the middle of paragraphs, contextual ads in drafts and responses, floating left/right ads in publications, popups designed … better, i don’t know, weird stuff i ran from coming back to haunt me.
What is the model for medium to make money? How are you supporting the future of this thing where so many people feel at home today?
